CABINETRY:

Cabinetry by Karman is certified by the Environmental Stewardship Program of the KCMA. Cabinetry by Karman is wholly owned by Wellborn Cabinet Inc., so attached is the link to their green page http://www.wellborn.com/green/ which includes good  information about the KCMA ESP Certification process as well as their environmental philosophy and some “Mythbusting” about hardwoods vs. alternate materials. There is also some really great info about the Formaldehyde content in modern wood products and finish products. The policies and the certification include all of their held companies. Here is a link to one of their green brochures: http://www.wellborn.com/green/Rd3_ESP_Update.pdf.

Showplace Cabinetry has the Lyptus product and here is a link to their Lyptus page: http://www.showplacewood.com/lyptus/01/01lyp.html as well as their Environmental Statement and their Certification for the Environmental Stewardship Program of the KCMA at this link: http://www.showplacewood.com/Home/envpol/SWP.envpol.html.

COUNTERTOPS:

LG HI-MACS is ready to tell its exciting eco-secret. The LG HI-MACS Eden Collection is a lush new line of earth-friendly surfaces featuring six natural colors inspired by garden botanicals. This line is one of the most environmentally conscious acrylic products in the industry and like all LG surfaces, Eden solid surfaces are non-porous, anti-microbial and stain resistant, and backed by a 15-year warranty.

The Eden Collection is created from a minimum of 12% pre-consumer recycled material and certified for recycled content by the Scientific Certification Systems (SCS). Use of Eden in your designs will earn credits towards LEED certification in the categories of Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, Energy & Atmosphere, Materials & Resources, and Indoor Environmental Quality. Bonus credits are also available for Process and Design Innovation. For your new projects, think the greenest in the garden.

So even if you don’t use the Hi-Macs Eden Acrylic Solid Surface you are at least using a product from a company with some good green products and corporate ethics.

Hanstone employs a Greenguard Indoor Air Quality http://www.greenguard.org/?tabId=14 sticker on their website but they make no statements as to their philosophies or processes. The certification should speak for itself based upon the info included in the greenguard site.

We hope this will help you make decisions that are meaningful and relevant.
